I have always loved drawing and painting since childhood and studied up to A Level. Art took a back seat for a few years while I trained to be a Primary School Teacher. Once qualified, teaching art was my favourite subject. When a nephew was born in 2003 it inspired me to start painting again as I wanted an original present for the baby. My training has influenced my art – I studied children’s literature for a year and would have loved to be a children’s illustrator. My pictures have been described as quirky and reflect my love of the natural world and a slightly mad sense of humour. I enjoy painting in watercolours and acrylics and experimenting with techniques and textures. I paint on anything from tiny pebbles to large canvasses - and even faces - and have also painted pantomime scenery.
